Resyca, Cyrano Report Positive Phase 2 Smell Loss Results

Resyca’s soft mist platform delivered Cyrano’s CYR-064 to the olfactory region and improved two measures of smell function.

Resyca and Cyrano Therapeutics announced positive Phase 2 FLAVOR trial results validating the use of Resyca’s proprietary soft mist nasal spray technology to deliver CYR-064, Cyrano’s lead therapy for persistent post-viral smell loss (hyposmia).

The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study enrolled 151 patients across 14 U.S. clinical sites. The trial met its primary safety endpoint and demonstrated statistically significant improvements across two independent measures of smell function, with benefits continuing through the 24-week study period.

The results support the role of Resyca’s soft mist delivery platform, which produces low-velocity, micron-sized droplets designed to improve deposition of CYR-064 in the olfactory region. Earlier CYR-064 studies used irrigation or oral dosing.

“The FLAVOR results reinforce the importance of delivery technology in unlocking the potential of advanced nasal therapies. Our soft mist technology is designed to enhance targeted deposition in the olfactory region through low-velocity and tightly controlled droplet-size distribution. Seeing our technology successfully incorporated into a clinical stage drug-device combination program for nasal drug delivery is an important milestone for Resyca and highlights its potential value across a range of future nasal therapeutic applications,” said Deborah Jones, CEO, Resyca.

“Resyca’s core technology and its ability to help deliver CYR-064 in a fine, low-velocity mist to the olfactory region is an important contributor to the encouraging results seen in FLAVOR and a key element of our therapeutic approach as we prepare to advance into Phase 3 development. We look forward to a close, long-lasting relationship between our two companies,” said Rick Geoffrion, President and CEO of Cyrano Therapeutics.

The companies said the successful Phase 2 study strengthens the case for CYR-064 as a potential first FDA-approved treatment for smell loss and plan to advance the program into Phase 3 development.
